Puu Poa 211 Air Conditioned unit is perfect for a relaxing vacation. This Princeville condo has spectacular Bali Hai and ocean views from the lanai, living room and indoor outdoor style atrium. Nicely furnished.

The three couches in the living room and atrium allow the vacationer the ability to lie down and read a book, listen to a CD, watch sports in Hi-Def, or just gaze out at the ocean and Bali Hai. If it sprinkles, you can stare at a rainbow. If it’s sunny, you can enjoy the tropical breeze that flows through the jalousie windows, which are in each room. (There are three ceiling fans to aid with the flow.) For those who must stay connected, there is DSL and WiFi.

The entry doors to this 2,000 sq.ft. condo were carved by James Hargraves, a nationally known Kauai glass artist. They lead into a sun room/atrium and a large living room. There is a 400 sq.ft. lanai with table, lounges and BBQ, which adjoins the living room. The master bedroom (with king bed) is open to the ocean view, but it can be separated from the atrium by moving a bank of plantation shutters.
The large second bedroom has a queen bed and its own separate bath (this bedroom does not have AC).
The washer and dryer are in the hall bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen with maple cabinets and granite counter tops, sits behind the living room and large dining room. In July you can be seated at the dining room table or preparing a late dinner in the kitchen and watch the sun set directly in front of you.

Puu Poa is located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. with views of the northeast tip of Hanalei Bay.

Because Puu Poa is oceanfront, our home has 180 degree view to the horizon. Use the telescope to watch surfers, ships and boats, schools of dolphins, many varieties of Hawaiian birds and the migration of whales from December through April. And every night there is a fantastic sunset. Each night since the Princeville Hotel opened, crowds gather in the ninth floor lounge to enjoy and photograph the scenes available in our living room.

The Puu Poa complex has a heated pool that overlooks the Pacific and a beautifully maintained tennis court. The #2 golf course in Hawaii, the Makai, is half a mile away. It has three nines, two of which have spectacular ocean vistas on several holes. The hotel tennis center is located at the club house.

The north shore of Kauai is home to many of Hawaii’s best beaches including Ke’e (start of the Kalalau Trail), a scenic 20 minute ride to the west, and Kalihiwai is about ten minutes to the east. (Our condo has beach chairs, coolers, and beach towels to make your day at the beach easier.)

Many other sporting activities are available within five minutes. These include scuba diving, kayaking on the Hanalei River, canoeing on the ocean, surfing (lessons), horseback riding, and biking. For those who enjoy hiking, the path to the Napali Coast begins at Ke’e Beach. The Kalalau Trail may be taken for a day trip or longer. It is one of the most wonderful walks in the world (waterfalls, cliffs, streams, and deserted beaches). Joggers will enjoy the four mile run up to the top of Princeville and back.

One of the nation’s six tropical botanical gardens (Limahuli) is just fifteen minutes to the west at Makana Peak (Bali Hai). The private Na Aina Kai Garden has daily tours and is located just past Kilauea, about fifteen minutes east. Helicopter tours of the Garden Isle are available from several locations including the Princeville airport.
Puu Poa 211 is undergoing new lanai and railings construction the projected finish date is May 1, 2023 due to weather and other issues this project could be extended. beyond May 1, 2023

  #211 was idyllic for our first 4 nights on Kauai. We were honeymooning, so only used the master bedroom, which had a super-comfortable king bed. The weather was on the cool side so we did not use the AC, but I did book the condo because it came with AC. The fans and ocean breezes provided the perfect amount of air movement.
  
  The views were to-die-for!! Every morning, we’d look down to the cove below (Hideaways Beach), and decide when the ocean conditions and sun were perfect for snorkeling. We really loved being so close to Hideaways Beach, and walking distance to the St Regis for a fancy dinner.
  
  The condo is nicely furnished (comfortable, clean, practical) and kitchen was well-stocked. I appreciated the shade umbrella out on deck, because when it was sunny, it was hot.
  
  The rental agency was very friendly and professional, and all instructions for condo were clear and we’ll-documented.

The walk down to Hidaways beach is tricky but if your careful and take your time is really not a problem at all.   The pictures don't do the condo justice. You can hear the ocean day and night, the breeze keeps it cool, there is plenty of space, it's clean and well maintained, the patio has one of the best views of the property and the condo is well stocked with most anything you might need. If you're considering Pua Poa, I'd definitely go for a 2nd floor unit because these are the units that don't overlook another unit's patio (as far as I could tell). In other words, the 3rd floor unit above us was overlooking our patio since it's terraced. This one seems to have one of the best views of the bay. A note about Hideaway beach directly below the condo - it's a very steep trail that you probably won't want to do regularly with small children (we had a 9 month old with us). It's best to walk 5 minutes down the road to the Pua Poa beach at the St Regis hotel. It also has great views of the bay, snorkeling and easy swimming.

  The North Shore of Kauai is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and Puu Poa 211 provides views throughout. The use of mirrors in strategic locations allows even visitors facing away from optimal views to not miss a thing. In addition to the extraordinary views, several things that stand out: the master bed way be THE MOST comfortable mattress I've ever slept on, the unit is stocked with so many thoughtful items from laundry detergent to games and books, fast internet, every kitchen item you could need. We had family staying at the St Regis next door. Everyone preferred our accommodation at Puu Poa 211. But do walk next door and try the brunch one day. yum.

  Just returned from a wonderful 8 night stay at Puu Poa #211. We had seen the photos and videos, but they still did not do justice to the amazing views from almost everywhere in the condo. Falling asleep each night to the sound of the waves was truly amazing. The unit was well equipped, and we were able to enjoy many meals out on the lanai while listening to the ocean and taking in the beauty of Bali Hai. The best snorkeling was located directly down the hill from Puu Poa at Hideaways Beach, via carefully navigating a path that is not for the faint of heart. Every evening we watched incredible sunsets while enjoying a cocktail on our private lanai. We didn't fully appreciate how magical that was until our last night when we ventured to the St. Regis for sunset. Between fighting the crowds for a view and paying $16 each for drinks, we realized what a truly wonderful place we had in Puu Poa. The condo is so comfortable and inviting - we truly felt at home there and would absolutely stay again.

The condo was lovely, well decorated, and had everything we needed (even masks, fins and snorkels!). The view from the lanai was amazing, and Puu Poa itself was, by far, the nicest of all of the Princeville condos, with an incredible location. Ron, the owner, was extremely helpful when we spoke to him before arriving, recommending several places to go to eat and so on. There were a few tiny glitches with the property (some lights that didn't work), but Mandy, the property manager, was very helpful and wonderful to work with.We couldn't have had a better time!

  I cannot write a review as positive as our experience with this rental -- words just fail at a certain point. The open floor plan immediately lowers your blood pressure by 30 points, at least. The space flows in a way that draws your attention irresistibly to the wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling view of Hanalei Bay-- better than the pics can possibly convey. Appliances all work fine, water pressure is good, the whole place is in great shape. The location is perfect, within minutes of farmers markets (Hanalei is best on Saturdays), seafood markets (Hanalei Dolphin is the best) and great restaurants (Bar Acuda is best, though the Dolphin is a close second). Don't miss the Hawaiian grilled cheese at Pink. Grocery store and wine market in Princeville are all you need for provisioning. Beaches, snorkeling (Hideaway and Sea Lodge are best - the property has a couple of full sets of snorkeling gear in the master bedroom closet), kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking (Kalalau and Hanalei 'Okolehao trails are best), catamaran tours, helicopter tours... it's all just minutes away. You will remember this place, fondly, for the rest of your life.

  Pros:
  + Nice and quiet complex.
  + Perfect views of the sunset and water.
  + The St. Regis is a 5 minute walk if you want it. You can't see the resort from the condo and if it weren't for signs on the street, you might not even realize it's there.
  + Photos are accurate.
  + Condo was clean and well appointed with everything I needed.
  + Hideaway Beach is also quiet and just a few minutes away on foot.
  + Hanalei is reasonably close (10 mins by car) if you want restaurants and shops.
  + Owner was very friendly and provided some good advice.
  
  
  Cons:
  - It was a bit difficult to find the building as I came after dark. There's minimal outside light (which is good unless you're trying to see where to go!).
  - It was a bit warm inside, which another review mentioned. The ocean-facing side has plenty of great big windows, but the back of the condo has only very small/obstructed windows - so there isn't a lot of airflow. It didn't cool down noticeably until about 11p and I never slept in the master bedroom due to the temperature.
  
  
  Tips:
  o Location: The building is the second from the right as you enter the parking lot. The condo is about the same level as the parking lot, but there are stairs.
  o Restaurants: You can easily walk to the St. Regis restaurants or a new pizza place about 10-15 mins to the east (can't remember the name). There is nothing else in walking range.
  o Shopping: There's a grocery store, gas station, a couple small (mediocre) restaurants, and a decent coffee shop at the Princeville Center about 5 mins away by car.
  o The Na' Pali coast and hiking trails were about 30-35 mins away by car. Go early or you won't find parking.
  o Privacy: There are condos above this one. The floors are staggered, so it doesn't obstruct sunlight, but that means your upstairs neighbors have a full view of your lanai.

  We vacationed on Kauai in conjunction with the wedding of our daughter at the St. Regis resort in Princeville. I zeroed in on the Puu Poa complex by virtue of its next door proximity to the St. Regis. I zeroed in on Unit 211 by virtue of owner Ron Burke’s excellent description of the condo on VRBO.
  
  The condo is as advertised, and very clean and well maintained. It is nicely laid out and nicely furnished and decorated...very homey. The many amenities provided left us wanting for nothing. The view is spectacular from the entire condo with the minor exception of the back bedroom.

  After a week at this unit, we decided we will definitely return. Unit #211 is uniquely positioned to be able to have the Bali Hai view from the living room and side dining area. Furnishings in the living room were very comfortable and the unit is very clean and nicely decorated. Something that is quite important to us is comfortable beds and comfortable living room furniture. We found the kitchen to be well stocked for those who love to cook. Fans both in the ceiling and on the ground provided the perfect breeze and ventilation. When we discovered there weren't enough beach chairs or beach towels for the four of us, the management acted quickly to provide them. They also came and washed the windows at our request. The location was very good: close to a great market, liquor store, shave ice, hotel, hiking, botanical gardens, restaurants, and more. ** Only suggestion I would make is to provide a knife sharpener, which is very important to cooks.

  We had the privilege of staying in this beautiful condo to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The view was spectacular, as good as or better than the property description. The beds were comfortable, the furniture was excellent, and kitchen was adequately equipped. We love the north shore of Kauai with the hiking, spectacular niche beaches, Honolei, etc. I could have stayed there two more weeks. We loved it. The only issues, and these were pretty minor, was that the toaster did not work unless unless you held down the lever all the time (just need a new toaster), and the grill igniter did not work (you just had to remove the grates and light it manually). These did not detract at all from our stay, and with everything else perfect and obviously maintained well, I suspect it will be quickly remedied. It is a beautiful place to stay, and you won't go wrong here.

  We chose Puu Poa #211 on the VRBO site. Booking our week was incredibly easy and very professional. We requested a crib and the owner supplied us with one at his own expense. We were amazed at the beauty, not only of the incredible views, but of the condo itself. There was a glassed in room that was the place to be during a few rain storms. The large deck looking over the surfers and whales was so beautiful, a perfect place to BBQ. It was a very quiet and private setting. At night the perfect place to watch sunsets and star gaze. We highly recommend this beautiful unit and hope to return.
